Heart locket necklaces
The heart is the locket people recognize before they know the brand. It is the shape to choose when the gift should be obvious, and when a smaller frame is easier to wear every day.
A heart holds less of a portrait than an oval. That is a limit, not a flaw. Faces that are cropped close, or a name and a date, fit the shape. A busy group photograph usually does not.

Plain, floral, or winged
A plain heart lets the inside do the work. A floral lid, a rose, a tree, or a dotted pattern means the locket still says something when it is closed. Angel wings around the heart are usually chosen in memory, or simply because the wings are the point.
Gold, silver, and rose gold are finishes on stainless steel. Pick the metal the person already wears. The shape can be sentimental. The color should still belong in their jewelry.
Photo or engraving
If the photograph is the reason for the locket, keep the picture simple: one face, good light, little background. If the words matter more, engrave them inside and leave the outside quiet.
One line is enough. The lockets people keep are specific, not long.
